Specialist Orthodontic

I obtained my basic dental qualified at the University of Wales College Of Medicine in 1992. Following this, I completed a year’s vocational training in a city centre practice in Cardiff. I then worked at the Oral and Maxillofacial department as a senior house officer at Middlesbrough general hospital for a year, before becoming a flying dentist serving remote communities in northern Canada for eighteen months.

On returning to the United Kingdom, I took up a year’s post as a senior house officer at Middlesbrough general hospital in the Oral and Maxillofacial department. This post was followed by a year’s post as a senior house officer at York district general hospital in the Oral and Maxillofacial department and the Ear, Nose and Throat department.

I then spent three years as a senior dental officer for the South Tees community dental service providing treatment for patients suffering with dental anxiety problems, medical problems and patients with special needs. During this time, I completed my fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and gained entry onto the specialist list for surgical dentistry. I subsequently returned to Newcastle University and completed a master’s degree in orthodontics. This was followed by success in the diploma of membership in orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

This is my eighteenth year in orthodontic specialist practice and until recently I was based in Melbourne, Australia. I have extensive experience of teaching at both undergraduate and post-graduate level.

I am married to Susan, and I have two children, Aislin and Myles.
