Pediatric Dentist

I have 3 passions in life - children, nature and books. Not surprisingly then I chose to spend all day working with children and go home each afternoon to a house that is like a library and full of pets - right now we have 4 cats 2 tortoises and 3 dogs - including Posie who is in training as our office emotional support pup and comes to work with me everyday.

As a child myself I dreamed of becoming a dolphin trainer when I grew up, but then realized as I got older that they would rather swim free and instead decided to pursue a medical career. I went to dental school at the University of Wales in Cardiff, graduating as a dentist in 1992, and then started further training in oral surgery in the UK, until I realized I would rather be in Bermuda! I started my Bermuda dental career with the Department of Health and worked for 10 years as a dental officer, quickly realizing that working with children was what l enjoyed the most. So, I packed up my family and headed back to the UK to Bristol University to study pediatric dentistry and achieve my specialist qualification. I then returned to the island in 2005 to start my specialist pediatric practice and 'Young Smiles' was born!

I love kids - I have 3 of my own - and my mission is to make a child's visit to the dentist as easy and fun as possible. Many of us have memories of bad experiences in dental practices as children and these stay with us our whole lives and can negatively impact our dental health. Going to the dentist should not be a bad experience, and my goal is to make good memories for the new generations coming through.

Outside of the office when I don't have my nose stuck in a book, I'm working on ticking things off my travel and adventure bucket list - right now I'm learning to sail, then next I think is learning to fly a plane.
